Back3.1.2.4.(1)

ATTRIBUTION:

Most technical provisions of the BC Fire Code describe how the code’s objectives and functional statements are achieved. However, some provisions, like this one, do not relate directly to a code objective. The following analysis is provided to assist in understanding of the provision.

APPLICATION:

Classification of a police station with detention quarters that is not more than 1 storey in building height and 600 m2 in building area.

INTENT:

To classify police stations as Group B, Division 2 major occupancies if they are small, and to exempt these buildings from the Group B, Division 1 classification requirements of Sentence 3.1.2.1.(1). This is to determine appropriate requirements in the Code.
