Back3.1.9.3.(3)

ATTRIBUTION:

Most technical provisions of the BC Fire Code describe how the code’s objectives and functional statements are achieved. However, some provisions, like this one, do not relate directly to a code objective. The following analysis is provided to assist in understanding of the provision.

APPLICATION:

Single conductor metal sheathed cables with combustible jacketing that are more than 25 mm in overall diameter that penetrate a fire separation required to have a fire-resistance rating where the cables are not grouped, in buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A.

INTENT:

To exempt certain service equipment from the application of Sentences 3.1.9.2.(1) and 3.1.9.3.(2) if certain conditions are met, on the basis that the equipment is deemed to insignificantly contribute to the growth and spread of fire.
