3.1.9.4.(5)ATTRIBUTION:
Most technical provisions of the BC Fire Code describe how the code’s objectives and functional statements are achieved. However, some provisions, like this one, do not relate directly to a code objective. The following analysis is provided to assist in understanding of the provision.
APPLICATION:
Combustible drain piping that penetrates a horizontal fire separation where the piping leads directly from a noncombustible water closet through a concrete floor slab, in buildings described in Sentence
1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A.
INTENT:
To exempt combustible drain piping from the application
of Sentences 3.1.9.2.(1) and 3.1.9.4.(3) if certain conditions are met, on the basis that the imposed conditions limit
the probability of the spread of fire or smoke.
