3.1.9.4.(6)ATTRIBUTION:
Most technical provisions of the BC Fire Code describe how the code’s objectives and functional statements are achieved. However, some provisions, like this one, do not relate directly to a code objective. The following analysis is provided to assist in understanding of the provision.
APPLICATION:
Combustible drain, waste and vent piping located on one side of a vertical fire separation, but not located in a vertical shaft, in buildings described in Sentence
1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A.
INTENT:
To exempt certain combustible piping from the application
of Sentences 3.1.9.2.(1) and 3.1.9.4.(3) if certain conditions are met, on the basis that the imposed conditions limit
the probability of the spread of fire or smoke.
