ATTRIBUTION:

Most technical provisions of the BC Fire Code describe how the code’s objectives and functional statements are achieved. However, some provisions, like this one, do not relate directly to a code objective. The following analysis is provided to assist in understanding of the provision.

 

APPLICATION:

Method of measuring the unobstructed path of travel for the firefighter required by Sentence 3.2.5.5.(2) from the vehicle to the building.
This applies to the location of access routes [required by Article 3.2.5.4.] for fire department vehicles, for buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A that are more than 3 storeys in building height or more than 600 m2 in building area.

To clarify how to measure the unobstructed path of travel.
