APPLICATION:
Installation of standpipe systems in buildings described in Sentence
1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A that are:
- more than 3 storeys in building height,
- more than 14 m high measured between grade and the ceiling of the top storey, or
- not more than 14 m high measured between grade and the ceiling of the top storey but have a building area exceeding the area shown in Table 3.2.5.8. for the applicable building height unless the building is sprinklered throughout.
This also applies to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence
1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application
of Part 9], as stated in Sentence
9.10.1.2.(8).
INTENT:
To limit the probability that manual firefighting operations
will be delayed or ineffective, which could lead to a fire not being suppressed
or controlled, which could lead to the spread of fire, which could lead to
harm to persons.
