APPLICATION:
Transmission of voice instructions using voice communication
systems referred to in Clause
3.2.4.21.(1)(b) consisting of loudspeakers
operated from central alarm and control facilities.
This
applies to voice communication systems required by Sentence
3.2.6.8.(1) in buildings:
- where the top storey is more than 36 m above grade, or
- with a floor area or part of a floor area located above the third storey and used as a Group B, Division 2 occupancy.
INTENT:
To limit the probability that persons located in certain
selected zones will not be properly instructed in a fire situation, which
could lead to inappropriate actions being taken by such persons, which could
lead to delays in evacuation or moving to a safe place, which could lead to
harm to persons.
To limit the probability that the alert and alarm signals
will not continue to function in zones not receiving voice messages during
a fire emergency, which could lead to delays in evacuation or moving to a
safe place, which could lead to harm to persons.
