Back3.2.5.14.(3)

ATTRIBUTION:

Functional Statement:

F06

To retard the effects of fire on facilities for notification, suppression and emergency response.

Objective:

OS1.2

APPLICATION:

Separation, with respect to the type of construction, of combustible sprinkler piping from the area served by the sprinkler system and from any other fire compartment.
This applies to wet systems in residential occupancies or other light hazard occupancies, in buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A in which automatic sprinkler systems are installed.
This also applies to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9] in which automatic sprinkler systems are installed, as stated in Sentence 9.10.1.2.(8).

INTENT:

To limit the probability that combustible sprinkler piping will not be protected against fire exposure, which could lead to the failure of the piping in a fire situation, which could lead to the fire not being suppressed or controlled, which could lead to the spread of fire to other parts of the building, which could lead to harm to persons.
