3.1.13.1.(1)ATTRIBUTION:
Most technical provisions of the BC Fire Code describe how the code’s objectives and functional statements are achieved. However, some provisions, like this one, do not relate directly to a code objective. The following analysis is provided to assist in understanding of the provision.
APPLICATION:
Interior finish, furnishings and decorative materials
that form part of the interior surface of floors, walls, partitions or ceilings in existing buildings and buildings described in Section
1.1. of Division A.
[Note:
It is not intended that either the NBC or the NFC be used to enforce the retrospective
application of new requirements in the NBC to existing buildings (see Appendix Note A-2.1.3.1.(1) of Division B of the NFC).]
INTENT:
To direct Code users to the NFC for requirements regarding
interior finishes, furnishings and decorative materials.
