Back6.2.9.6.(1)

ATTRIBUTION:

Most technical provisions of the BC Fire Code describe how the code’s objectives and functional statements are achieved. However, some provisions, like this one, do not relate directly to a code objective. The following analysis is provided to assist in understanding of the provision.

APPLICATION:

Piping for heating or air-conditioning systems that is enclosed in shafts, in buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A.
This also applies to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9], with respect to heating and air-conditioning systems, other than those serving individual dwelling units, as stated in Sentence 9.33.1.1.(2).

INTENT:

To direct Code users to Article Article 3.6.3.1., which contains requirements regarding fire separations for vertical service spaces.
