Back9.6.6.2.(3)

ATTRIBUTION:

Most technical provisions of the BC Fire Code describe how the code’s objectives and functional statements are achieved. However, some provisions, like this one, do not relate directly to a code objective. The following analysis is provided to assist in understanding of the provision.

APPLICATION:

Glass in entrance doors to dwelling units and public areas, in buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9], where the glass area exceeds 0.5 m2 and extends to less than 900 mm from the bottom of the door.
This also applies in buildings to which Part 3 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A for application of Part 3], with respect to glass in doors and in sidelights that could be mistaken for doors, within or at the entrance to dwelling units and in public areas, as stated in Sentence 3.3.1.19.(5).

INTENT:

To expand the application of Sentence 9.6.6.2.(2) to include glass in doors other than storm or sliding doors.
