APPLICATION:

Fastening of hinges for swinging wood doors, in buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9]:

in entrances to dwelling units,
between dwelling units and attached garages or other ancillary spaces, or
that provide access directly or indirectly from a storage garage to a dwelling unit.

INTENT:

To limit the probability of using an inadequate number or length of fasteners or an inadequate fastener penetration depth, which could lead to inadequate resistance to physical attack (e.g. prying or impact forces), which could lead to unwanted entry, which could lead to harm to persons.
