Back9.7.7.2.(1)

ATTRIBUTION:

Functional Statement:

F30

To minimize the risk of injury to persons as a result of tripping, slipping, falling, contact, drowning or collision.

Objective:

OS3.1

APPLICATION:

Factory-built glass skylights, in buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9].

INTENT:

To limit the probability that the performance of factory-built glass skylights will fall significantly below expectations, which could lead to precipitation ingress, which could lead to persons slipping on wet interior walking surfaces, which could lead to harm to persons.

ATTRIBUTION:

Functional Statement:

F20

To support and withstand expected loads and forces.

F61

To resist the ingress of precipitation, water or moisture from the exterior or from the ground.

F63

To limit moisture condensation.

Objective:

OS2.1, OS2.3

APPLICATION:

Factory-built glass skylights, in buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9].

INTENT:

To limit the probability that the performance of factory-built glass skylights will fall significantly below expectations, which could lead to:
  • compromised structural integrity of skylight assemblies and adjacent roof, ceiling and exterior wall assemblies, which could lead to wetting from condensation on the interior skylight surfaces or precipitation ingress, which could lead to deterioration, or
  • components falling from skylights, or snow or ice falling through skylights.
This is to limit the probability of harm to persons.

ATTRIBUTION:

Functional Statement:

F61

To resist the ingress of precipitation, water or moisture from the exterior or from the ground.

F63

To limit moisture condensation.

F61

To resist the ingress of precipitation, water or moisture from the exterior or from the ground.

Objective:

OH1.1, OH1.2, OH1.3

APPLICATION:

Factory-built glass skylights, in buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9].

INTENT:

To limit the probability that the performance of factory-built glass skylights will fall significantly below expectations, which could lead to:
  • the inadequate control of water accumulation, or
  • precipitation ingress.
This is to limit the probability of:
  • the generation of pollutants from biological growth or from materials that become unstable on wetting, or
  • deterioration, which could lead to compromised integrity of windows or adjacent exterior wall assemblies.
This is to limit the probability of:
  • negative effects on the air quality of indoor spaces, and
  • contact with moisture.
This is to limit the probability of harm to persons.
