Back9.22.9.4.(1)

ATTRIBUTION:

Functional Statement:

F01

To minimize the risk of accidental ignition.

Objective:

OS1.1

APPLICATION:

Minimum clearance between combustible material located above heat-circulating duct openings and these openings, in masonry fireplaces constructed on-site, in buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9].
This also applies to fireplaces in buildings to which Part 6 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A for application of Part 6], as stated in Sentence 6.2.1.5.(1).

INTENT:

To limit the probability that an inadequate clearance will lead to heated air flowing from heat-circulating duct openings and overheating combustible material, which could lead to the ignition of combustible building components, which could lead to harm to persons.
