APPLICATION:

Specified load due to the accumulation of rainwater on a roof or other building surface whose position, shape and deflection under rain load make such an accumulation possible.
This applies to buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A and to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9] that are required to be designed in accordance with the requirements of Part 4.

INTENT:

To limit the probability that the rain load used for the design of structural elements supporting roofs on which rain can accumulate will not take into account the maximum expected accumulation of rainwater on a catchment area of roof, which could lead to structural failure, which could lead to harm to persons.
To limit the probability that the one-day rainfall value used will not be compatible with the geographic characteristics by directing Code users to Sentence 1.1.3.1.(1) [], which could lead to structural failure, which could lead to harm to persons.
