9.8.8.2.(2)ATTRIBUTION:
Most technical provisions of the BC Fire Code describe how the code’s objectives and functional statements are achieved. However, some provisions, like this one, do not relate directly to a code objective. The following analysis is provided to assist in understanding of the provision.
APPLICATION:
Distribution of load on all interior guards within dwelling units and all exterior guards serving not more than 2 dwelling units, in buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence
1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application
of Part 9].
This also applies to guards within dwelling units in buildings to which Part 3 applies [see Sentence
1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A or application
of Part 3], as stated in Sentence
3.3.4.7.(1).
INTENT:
To clarify in what manner the loads stated in Table
9.8.8.2. are
to be applied to a 300-mm width on balusters in guards within dwelling units
and exterior guards serving not more than 2 dwelling units.
