INTENT:
To limit the probability that:
- the loads for which stairs and ramps are designed will not take
into account probable accumulations of people and objects on the floor or
roof surface in the context of use and occupancy, and
- the loads for which stairs and ramps are designed will be less
than the accepted minimum value in the context of use and occupancy.
This is to limit the probability of excessive
deflection or excessive vibration of structural members, which could lead
to negative effects on the psychological well-being of persons.
