Application for a permit amendment under the provisions of the Environmental Management Act.

We/I, Aquila Cedar Products Ltd, PO Box 908, Parksville, BC V9P 1G9, intend to submit this amendment application to the Director to amend Permit 14508 issued March 26, 1999 which authorizes the discharge of air emissions from a sawmill.

The land upon which the facility is situated and the discharge occurs is Lot 27, Plan 1964, District Lot 156, Nanoose Land District except Plan 733 RW, PID #006692656, located at/on/near 1282 Alberni Highway, Parksville, BC within the Regional District of Nanaimo.

The amendment requests that the following conditions be changed: to remove a Fines Blower (E28118) and cyclone at Shingle Mill (E228120) (both now decommissioned); to retain the discharges at Planer Mill (E228117.1.1.3) and Chipper (E228119), and to add new discharges at Hog (197.77 m3/minute), Furniture Shop (102 m3/minute), Sawmill (101.55 m3/minute) and Chop Saw (182.32 m3/ minute).

Any person who may be adversely affected by the proposed amendment and wishes to provide relevant information may, within 30 days after the last date of posting, publishing, service or display, send written comments to the applicant, with a copy to the Regional Director, Environmental Protection at 2080-A Labieux Road, Nanaimo, BC V9E 6J9. The identity of any respondents and the contents of anything submitted in relation to this application will become part of the public record.

Application No. 387993

Application for a permit amendment under the provisions of the Environmental Management Act.

We, Enersul Inc., 7210 Blackfoot Trail SE, Calgary, Alberta T2H 1M5, intend to submit this amendment application to the Director to amend Permit 6700, issued July 26, 1984, and last amended on July 9, 2019, which authorizes the discharge of effluent from a sulphur pelletizing plant.

The land upon which the facility is situated, and the discharge occurs, is a-030-E/093-P-12, located approximately 20 km west of Chetwynd in the Peace River District of British Columbia.

The amendment requests that approval be given for the maximum cumulative discharge of air emissions of 0.085 g/s of oxides of nitrogen and 0.0058 g/s of fine particulate matter from three onsite boilers.

Any persons who may be adversely affected by the proposed amendment and wishes to provide relevant information may, within 30 days after the last date of posting, publishing, service or display, send written comments to the applicant, with a copy to the Peace Regional Office at Room 400, 10003 – 110th Avenue, Fort St. John, British Columbia V1J 6M7. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION NOTICE

Application No. 16540

Application for a permit amendment under the provisions of the Environmental Management Act.

We, Porcupine Wood Products Ltd., 8564 Highway 6 North, Salmo, BC V0G 1Z0, intend to submit an application to the Director, Environmental Management Act, to amend Permit 16540, issued April 2, 2001, and last amended February 20, 2003, which authorizes the discharge of air emissions from an existing sawmill. The existing source of the permitted discharge is open burning of wood residue.

The land upon which the facility is situated, and the discharge occurs is Lot 1, Plan 4415, District Lot 1237, Kootenay Land District (KLD), located approximately 5.3 km northeast of the Village of Salmo, BC, and 5.2 km south of the Town of Ymir, BC.

The amendment requests that the following conditions be changed in order to accommodate additional existing sawmill discharges, which include five (5) cyclones and related appurtenances.

Cyclones:

• The characteristics of the discharge will be equivalent to or better than a maximum total particulate matter production of 120 mg/m3 per cyclone.

• The authorized discharge period will be: 16 hours/day, 5 days/week.

• The authorized works, related appurtenances, and the maximum rate of discharge per cyclone are summarized in Table 1.
