TIMBER SALE LICENCE A72325

Take notice that, pursuant to section 20 of the Forest Act, Timber Sale Licence A72325 is being offered for sale by the Seaward (Tłasta) Business Area.

Closing date and time: May 12, 2005, at 1:30 p.m., at the BC Timber Sales Office, Seaward (Tłasta) Business Area.

Geographic location: Parker Creek, King Island.

Estimated volume: 33 124 cubic metres.

Term: Two years.

Logging method: This timber sale licence has been designed for harvest using a cable-based system. The use of other systems may be subject to the Forest Practices Code of British Columbia Act and its regulations.

Upset stumpage rate: $25.21 per cubic metre for competitive volume. The stumpage rate will be fixed for the duration of the licence term and for the duration of any extension to that term. The upset stumpage rate was determined by the market pricing system, and is applicable only to coniferous green sawlog grades.

Upset stumpage rate for competitive volumes: Timber Mark, 72325; product, sawlog; volume, 31 528 cubic metres; rate, $25.21 per cubic metre.

Species: Ce (54%), He (18%), Ba (13%), Ss (6%), Cy (4%) and Y-grade (5%), more or less.

Silviculture system: Clearcut.

Road obligations: Road permit required for new construction; road use permit required for use of the Parker Creek Forest Service Road; replacement of one wood box culvert and one log bridge is required on the Parker Creek Mainline and Branch 2-1 (PC900), respectively; installation of one new log bridge on Branch 6 is required; no industrial activity to occur on Branch 499 until the replacement of two bridges is completed by BC Timber Sales, installation to be finalized by June 30, 2005.

The successful applicant will be required to implement and conform to the Seaward (Tłasta) Business Area Environmental Management System.

TIMBER SALE LICENCE A77645

Category: 1, 2, 3.

Take notice that, pursuant to section 20 of the Forest Act, Timber Sale Licence A77645 is being offered for sale by the Okanagan-Columbia Business Area.

Closing date: Thursday, May 5, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., local time.

Geographic location: Boom Creek, Sucker Lake.

Estimated volume: 25 481 cubic metres. The preceding volumes are estimates based on statistical samples. Bidders are strongly advised to conduct a thorough field review to verify estimates.

Term: One year. No extensions will be permitted to the term of this timber sale licence.

Logging method: This timber sale licence has been designed for harvesting using ground-based logging system. The use of other systems may be subject to the Forest Practices Code of British Columbia Act and its regulations.

Upset stumpage rate: $31.57 per cubic metre. The upset stumpage rate was determined by the market pricing system, and is applicable only to coniferous green sawlog grades.

Species: Lodgepole pine, 19 920 cubic metres (78%); spruce, 3755 cubic metres (15%); Douglas fir, 1224 cubic metres (5%); balsam fir, 582 cubic metres (2%); total, 25 481 cubic metres, more or less.

This timber sale licence is fully developed.

Tenders will be accepted from individuals or corporations registered as BC Timber Sales Enterprises in Categories 1, 2 and 3.

Driveable access to view this timber sale licence is not guaranteed. A lengthy snowmobile trip may be required.

The licencee will be responsible to ensure that landing piles have been clean burned and extinguished by April 15, 2007.

Okanagan Indian Band has requested that parties planning to use 0 to 8 kilometres of the Whiteman Main Forest Road for industrial purposes should contact Kristy Craske of Okanagan Indian Band, telephone 250 542-7132, fax 250 542-0541, prior to use.

A segment of the Salmon River Road passes through private land owned by Douglas Lake Ranch. Should the licencee wish to run industrial traffic via this route they will be required to arrange this with the Douglas Lake Ranch.

The licencee must not allow the manufacture of special forest products on the area of land described in paragraph 1.01 of this licence. All timber must be scaled according to the schedule of Interior Timber Grades of the Scaling Regulation 446/94.

The licencee will be required to deactive all block roads and trails used in this timber sale. All roads and trails constructed by the licencee will be fully rehabilitated (including grass seeding) by the licencee. All landing debris will be clean piled and burned by the licencee at the licencee's expense. The licencee will be responsible to ensure that landing piles have been clean burned and extinguished by April 15, 2007.

Whereas one of the objectives of this timber sale is to remove the current mountain pine beetle infestation, the licencee will be encouraged to make a reasonable effort to dispose of as much infested lodgepole pine by July 15, 2005, as is possible.

In June of 2005, BCTS will pheromone bait lodgepole pine areas in this timber sale in an effort to capture beetles in the 2005 flight. BCTS will work with the licencee to select areas within the timber sale licence to bait and defer from harvest until September 15, 2005.

The licencee will be required to upgrade approximately 1.1 kilometres of the Sucker Lake Road accessing Cut Block K5AM. This work will be at the licencee's expense and will include brushing, ditching, grading, culvert purchase and installation and erosion control (grass seeding). See the road layout and design in the tender package for specifications.

Logging method: This timber sale licence has been designed for harvest using a clearcut system. The use of other systems may be subject to the Forest Practices Code of British Columbia Act and its regulations.

Upset stumpage rate: The upset stumpage rate was determined by the market pricing system, and is applicable only to coniferous green sawlog grades.

Upset stumpage rate for competitive volumes: Timber Mark, 73391; product, sawlog; estimated volume, 43 869 cubic metres; rate, $34.11 per cubic metre.

This timber sale licence is fully developed.
