PUBLIC VIEWING

Equis Forest Products Ltd. and Echa-Peh Forest Resources Ltd. invite comment regarding proposed amendment of their 2001 to 2005 Forest Development Plan for their Cataract Lake Operating Area (Forest Licences A59658, A53361 and A71504).

Coulson Forest Products Limited in-vites comment regarding proposed amendment to its 2002 to 2006 Forest Development Plan for its operations in the Toquart Valley and Pipestem Inlet area (Forest Licence A19234).

The proposed amendments for both plans are available for review and comment by the public, First Nations, and resource agencies for 60 calendar days commencing on September 29 and ending on November  27, 2003. After that date the amendments will be finalized and submitted, along with all comments received, to the District Manager of the South Island Forest District for approval.

These amendments reflect changes to the planned timber harvesting and road building activities in the operating areas of the forest licence areas.

The revised plans are available for viewing during normal business hours from September 29 to November 27, 2003, at the following locations:

Ministry of Forests, South Island Forest District, 4885 Cherry Creek Road, Port Alberni, B.C. V9Y 8E9, telephone 250 731-3000; and

Coulsen Forest Products Limited, 4590 Helen Street, Port Alberni, B.C. V9Y 6P5, attention Robert Howie and Ron Sorensen, telephone 250 723-8118.

A licencee representative will be available to discuss these plan amendments at the Coulson Forest Products office if a prior appoint is made.

If interested parties are unable to view these amendments during the times indicated above, arrangements can be made to view them at a more convenient time.

FOREST DEVELOPMENT PLAN (Major Amendment)

Take notice that BC Timber Sales, in the 100 Mile House Timber Supply Area, intends to submit an expedited amendment to the currently approved 2003 – 2007 Forest Development Plan.This expedited amendment is for the following proposed forest development plan units and timber sale licencees and associated roads at various locations within 100 Mile House Timber Supply Area.

This amendment is necessary to obtain Ministry of Forests approval for harvest of approximately 21 100 cubic metres over four blocks, for the purpose of containing beetle spread. This development was not previously identified in the 2003 Forest Development Plan.

FDP Unit 123, Timber Sale Licence A51943, located at Wahlleben, mountain pine beetle: Relocated existing block and associated roads to harvest prior to 2004 flight, approximately 44.6 hectares.

FDP Unit 153, Timber Sale Licence A55461, located at Bosk Lake, mountain pine beetle: Existing block and associated new roads to harvest prior to 2004 flight, approximately 34 hectares.

FDP Unit 434, Timber Sale Licence Unknown, located at Boas-Ruth, mountain pine beetle: New blocks and associated roads to harvest prior to 2004 flight, approximately seven hectares.

FDP Unit 443, Timber Sale Licence Unknown, located at Dougherty Lake, mountain pine beetle: New blocks and associated roads to harvest prior to 2004 flight, approximately 41.2 hectares.

FDP Unit 444, Timber Sale Licence Unknown, located at Dougherty Lake, mountain pine beetle: New blocks and associated roads to harvest prior to 2004 flight, approximately 32 hectares.

Public viewing of this amendment is available during working hours (8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m.), at 1265 Dalhousie Drive, Kamloops, until November 7, 2003. Telephone 250 371-6500 prior to viewing the plans to ensure a representative of Kamloops Timber Sales Office is available. The plans may also be viewed, by appointment, at the 100 Mile House Forest District Office by contacting Lynn Dent-Wilson at 250 395-7800.
