This Bill disapplies the provision of the Members' Conflict of Interest Act that causes an acting Conflict of Interest Commissioner to cease to hold office when the Legislative Assembly has sat for 20 days after the date the acting commissioner was appointed.
HIS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:
1 (1) In this section, "commissioner" has the same meaning as in the Members' Conflict of Interest Act.
(2) Section 14 (7) (c) of the Members' Conflict of Interest Act does not apply in respect of an acting commissioner appointed on or after January 6, 2025 under section 14 (6) of that Act.
2 This Act is repealed on March 31, 2026 or on an earlier date prescribed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council.
3 The provisions of this Act referred to in column 1 of the following table come into force as set out in column 2 of the table:
