MINISTER OF SKILLS DEVELOPMENT AND LABOUR
HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:
Skills Development and Fair Wage Act
1 The Skills Development and Fair Wage Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 427, is repealed.
Consequential Amendments
Drainage, Ditch and Dike Act
2 Section 39 (2) of the Drainage, Ditch and Dike Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 102, is repealed.
Ministry of Transportation and Highways Act
3 Section 23 (5) of the Ministry of Transportation and Highways Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 311, is repealed.
4 Despite the repeal of the Skills Development and Fair Wage Act, that Act and the regulations under that Act continue to apply with respect to a written contract for construction, as defined in the Skills Development and Fair Wage Act, that was entered into and signed before the date on which this Act comes into force.
5 This Act comes into force 30 days after it receives Royal Assent.
Explanatory Notes
Skills Development and Fair Wage Act
SECTION 1: [Skills Development and Fair Wage Act, repeals the Act] is self explanatory.
Drainage, Ditch and Dike Act
SECTION 2: [Drainage, Ditch and Dike Act, repeals section 39 (2)] is consequential to the repeal of the Skills Development and Fair Wage Act.
Ministry of Transportation and Highways Act
SECTION 3: [Ministry of Transportation and Highways Act, repeals section 23 (5)] is consequential to the repeal of the Skills Development and Fair Wage Act.
SECTION 4: [Transitional] clarifies that the Skills Development and Fair Wage Act will continue to apply to contracts that were entered into and signed before the repeal of that Act.
