HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:
1 The day in February prescribed under this Act is a public holiday to be observed as "Family Day".
2 The Lieutenant Governor in Council may by regulation prescribe a day in February to be observed as "Family Day".
Employment Standards Act
3 Section 1 (1) of the Employment Standards Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 113, is amended in the definition of "statutory holiday" by adding "Family Day," after "New Year's Day,".
Interpretation Act
4 Section 29 of the Interpretation Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 238, is amended in paragraph (b) of the definition of "holiday" by adding ", Family Day" after "Remembrance Day".
5 This Act comes into force on the date of Royal Assent.
