HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:
1 In this act:
"species" means any species, subspecies, or geographically separate population thereof;
"specimen" means: any readily recognizable part or derivative thereof; and for the family/species mentioned in section 2;
"trade" means export, re-export, import.
2 (1) The trade or sale of any specimen derived from the following mammals is prohibited:
(a) member of the Family Elephantidae,
(b) member of the Family Rhinocerotidae.
(2) Subsection (1) applies to specimens predating the Canadian ratification of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.
3 (1) A contravention of section 2 constitutes an offence.
(2) The Lieutenant Governor may prescribe regulations setting out fines, and when information must be laid in relation to an offence under this Act.
4 This Act comes into force on the day of Royal Assent.
