Assented to February 20, 1953
WHEREAS, in view of the extensive human suffering and property damage which have resulted from the recent floods in the United Kingdom and on the Continent of Europe, it is considered desirable that financial aid be extended to aid in reconstruction:
AND WHEREAS, while provision has been made by Vote No. 252a in the Supplementary Estimates of Expenditure for the fiscal year ending the thirty-first day of March, 1953, as presented to the Legislature for a "Grant in Aid of Reconstruction of Flood-devastated Areas in Europe," in the amount of one hundred thousand dollars, the need is of such urgency as to require special and immediate action by the Legislative Assembly:
NOW, THEREFORE, HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:—
1 This Act may be cited as the "United Kingdom and Europe Flood Reconstruction Aid Act, 1953."

2 The Lieutenant-Governor in Council may from time to time direct to be expended from the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the Province for the provision of a grant in aid of the reconstruction of flood-devastated areas in the United Kingdom and on the Continent of Europe a sum not exceeding one hundred thousand dollars.

3 The moneys granted under this Act shall be deemed to affirm and be not in addition to that amount provided by Vote No. 252a of the Supplementary Estimates of Expenditure for the fiscal year ending the thirty-first day of March, 1953, as presented to the Legislative Assembly by Message of His Honour the Lieutenant-Governor.
