1 This Act may be cited as the "Greater Nanaimo Sewerage and Drainage Enabling Act."

2 Notwithstanding the provisions of the "Greater Nanaimo Water District Act," the Greater Nanaimo Water District, incorporated by the "Greater Nanaimo Water District Act," may prepare, or cause to be prepared, a plan or plans for a system or sytems of sewerage or drainage works, or both sewerage and drainage works, to serve the territory within and in the vicinity of The Corporation of the City of Nanaimo and the Harewood Improvement District.

3 No plan shall be prepared under section 2 without the written authority of The Corporation of the City of Nanaimo and the Harewood Improvement District. Such authority shall set out the nature and extent of such planning and the apportionment or method of apportionment of the cost involved and shall name the firm or person to be engaged to undertake the work.

4 The Greater Nanaimo Water District may borrow from time to time such sums as may be necessary for the purposes of this Act upon the security of any or all accounts due or to become due under section 5 hereof.

5 The Corporation of the City of Nanaimo and the Harewood Improvement District shall be liable to the extent of their respective shares of the cost involved and shall reimburse the Greater Nanaimo Water District for all expenditures made in pursuance of the provisions of this Act forthwith upon receipt of a statement of the amount so expended, certified by the Treasurer of the Greater Nanaimo Water District.

6 This Act comes into force and effect on the first day of January, 1958, and is retroactive to the extent necessary to give effect to the provisions thereof.
