2 (1) George Ernest Pascoe Jones is and shall be deemed to have been, as of and on the eighth day of October, 1964, retired and removed from office as a member and Chairman of the Purchasing Commission constituted by and under the Purchasing Commission Act, and
(a) in order that he shall receive the amount of fifteen thousand six hundred and seventy-five dollars in lieu of all salary and other remuneration or allowances from the first day of October, 1964, until the fifteenth day of February, 1966, less a deduction in the amount of two thousand one hundred and twenty-seven dollars and eighty-eight cents on account of income tax and a deduction in the amount of one thousand four hundred and eighty-nine dollars and thirteen cents representing the amount that he would have paid to the Civil Service Superannuation Fund if he had continued to be an employee within the meaning of the Civil Service Superannuation Act until the fifteenth day of February, 1966, with remuneration in the amount of fifteen thousand six hundred and seventy-five dollars from the first day of October, 1964, to the fifteenth day of February, 1966, the Minister of Finance shall pay forthwith upon this Act being given Royal assent out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund to George Ernest Pascoe Jones the sum of twelve thousand fifty-seven dollars and ninety-nine cents or so much thereof as remains unpaid on the day this Act is given Royal assent; and,
(b) notwithstanding anything contained in the Civil Service Superannuation Act, George Ernest Pascoe Jones may, on the fifteenth day of February, 1966,
(i) demand the refund of the amount of eleven thousand two hundred and sixty-seven dollars and sixty-two cents from the Civil Service Superannuation Fund, being the amount that will stand to his credit in that Fund on that date, and in that event the amount of eleven thousand two hundred and sixty-seven dollars and sixty-two cents shall be paid to him forthwith from the Civil Service Superannuation Fund; or
(ii) apply for a superannuation allowance under the Civil Service Superannuation Act, and in that event he shall be paid such allowance as if his employment had terminated on the fifteenth day of February, 1966.
(2) This Act supersedes section 4 of the Purchasing Commission Act and shall be given full force and effect notwithstanding that section or anything else contained in that Act.
(3) This Act shall be deemed to have come into force and effect on the eighth day of October, 1964, and is retroactive to the extent necessary to give full force and effect to the provisions hereof on and after that date.
