Assented to March 23, 1967
WHEREAS on the nineteenth day of November, 1866, the Colonies of British Columbia and Vancouver Island were united to form the Colony of British Columbia:
AND WHEREAS the City of New Westminster was the first capital city of the united Colony of British Columbia:
AND WHEREAS the citizens of the City of New Westminster have been the promoters of the well-being of all inhabitants of British Columbia and have made an especially significant contribution to the attainment of the present status of this Province in Canada and elsewhere:
NOW, THEREFORE, HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:—
2 In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,
"Comptroller-General" means the person holding office as Comptroller-General pursuant to the Audit Act;
"Queensborough Bridge" and "Bridge" includes all of the right, title, and interest of the City of New Westminster in and to
(a) the Queensborough Bridge; and
(b) all piers, abutments, blocks, erections, and approaches, lands, rights, powers, franchises, and authorities erected, made, sunk, built, taken, or vested as part of or in connection with or with respect to the Queensborough Bridge as of the twentieth day of November, 1966;
"Minister of Finance" means the person holding office as Minister of Finance under the Revenue Act.

3 In order that use of the Queensborough Bridge shall be free of any toll therefor on and after the twentieth day of November, 1966, and that the City of New Westminster shall bear no further indebtedness on account of the construction of the Bridge to that date, the Minister of Finance shall make a Centennial gift to the City of New Westminster as set forth in section 4.

4 The Minister of Finance shall
(a) establish an account in the Provincial Treasury with the name "Queensborough Bridge Account";
(b) pay into that Account in the 1966/67 fiscal year the sum determined by the Comptroller-General to be sufficient to discharge the indebtedness of the City of New Westminster for the construction of the Bridge, and the interest thereon; and
(c) pay out of that Account to the City of New Westminster the amounts of principal and interest for which the City of New Westminster becomes liable under its indebtedness as it becomes due.

5 The Minister of Highways may, on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen in right of the Province, transfer and convey to the City of New Westminster such lands of which Her Majesty the Queen or the Province is the owner as he may deem necessary to the maintenance and operation of the Queensborough Bridge, and there shall be no fees charged under the Land Registry Act for the registration of title thereto.
