Provisions in force January 1, 2027

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, orders that

(b) effective September 1, 2026, the attached Post-Secondary International Education (Designated Institutions) Regulation is made and comes into force as follows:

(ii) Part 2 is brought into force on January 1, 2027, and

Part 2 — Fees

Application fee

7   For the purposes of section 4 (2) (c) of the Act, the following application fee is prescribed:

(a) for an application for the issuance of a designation certificate, $7 500;

(b) for an application for the renewal of a designation certificate, $5 500.

Administrative fee

8   (1) For the purposes of section 12 of the Act, the following administrative fee is prescribed:

(a) if the designated institution is an institution described in section 3 (a) (i) of the Act, a fee that consists of $2 for each international student enrolled at the institution at any time during the calendar year that precedes the date the institution applies for the issuance or renewal of a designation certificate;

(b) if the designated institution is an institution described in section 3 (a) (ii), (iii) or (iv) of the Act, a fee that consists of the sum of the following:

(i) the fee described in paragraph (a);

(ii) if the institution provides a program of instruction at more than one location and applies for the renewal of its designation certificate, a fee of $3 000.

(2) A designated institution must pay the administrative fee no later than 30 days after the date the notice of issuance or renewal of a designation certificate is, under section 29 (2) of the Act, deemed to have been received.

Appeal fee

9   For the purposes of section 21 (2) (b) of the Act, the prescribed appeal fee is $250.

Exemption from payment of fees

10   The following institutions are exempt from the payment of fees payable under the Act:

(a) a mandated institute as defined in section 1 of the First Nations Mandated Post-Secondary Institutes Act;

(b) an Indigenous institution as defined section 1 of the Fees and Student Tuition Protection Fund Regulation, B.C. Reg. 140/2016;

(c) the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology.
