1 This regulation applies to the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence and New Technologies for the 2025/2026 fiscal year.
2 In this regulation:
"Act" means the Balanced Budget and Ministerial Accountability Act;
"AI" means artificial intelligence.
3 The expected results that the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence and New Technologies is to achieve for the purposes of section 5 (3) of the Act are as follows:
(a) host regular round-table meetings with leaders in AI, life sciences, quantum computing and other new technologies in order to identify opportunities for investment in British Columbia;
(b) support the adoption of AI and AI tools by British Columbia businesses in multiple industrial sectors across the Province, and identify barriers to that adoption, by conducting meetings with leaders of those businesses;
(c) promote the adoption of AI by British Columbia businesses by speaking at business conferences and other events;
(d) ensure that a British Columbia perspective is provided to the federal government in respect of the development of laws and policies related to AI and new technologies;
(e) act as an advocate for an equitable share of federal funding to support the development of both new technologies and the low carbon economy, including by participating in meetings between the Minister of Jobs and Economic Growth and federal government counterparts;
(f) submit to Cabinet a report on the results referred to in paragraphs (a) through (e) on or before March 31, 2026.
