Definition

1   In this regulation, "Act" means the Employment Standards Act.

Leave in relation to the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games

2   (1) For the purposes of section 52.2 (2) (c) of the Act, the prescribed circumstance is that the employee is deployed to a Canadian Forces operation that is or will be providing support for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games or is engaged in pre-deployment or post-deployment activity required by the Canadian Forces in connection with such an operation.

(2) A request for leave under section 52.2 (2) (c) of the Act in the circumstance described in subsection (1) must be given to the employer as soon as practicable after the employee receives notice of the deployment.

(3) A notice to be provided under section 52.2 (5) of the Act by a person who requested leave under section 52.2 (2) (c) of the Act in the circumstance described in subsection (1) must be provided as soon as practicable after the employee receives notice of the extended deployment.
