1 Section 1 of the Permit Regulation, B.C. Reg. 253/2000, is amended by adding the following definition:
"firearm offence" means any of the following:
(a) an offence under the Firearm Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 145;
(b) an offence under section 65 (1) (a), (b), (c) or (d) of the Firearm Violence Prevention Act; .
2 Section 16 (2) (b) is repealed and the following substituted:
(b) either the applicant or the non-resident or non-resident alien to whom the permit would apply
(i) has been convicted, within the 5-year period immediately preceding the application for a permit, of an offence referred to in section 84 (1) (a) of the Act, or
(ii) has been convicted, within the 3-year period immediately preceding the application for a permit, of
(A) an offence referred to in section 84 (1) (b) of the Act, or
(B) a firearm offence, or .
3 Section 17 (2) is amended
(a) in paragraph (c) by striking out “or”, and
(b) by repealing paragraph (d) and substituting the following:
(d) has been convicted, within the 5-year period immediately preceding the application for a permit, of an offence referred to in section 84 (1) (a) of the Act, or
(e) has been convicted, within the 3-year period immediately preceding the application for a permit, of
(i) an offence referred to in section 84 (1) (b) of the Act, or
(ii) a firearm offence.
