British Columbia Building Code established
1 The British Columbia Building Code is established by adopting,
(a) as Book I (General), Divisions A to C of the National Building Code of Canada 2010, as it was on June 1, 2012, with the changes set out in the attached Schedule 1, and
(b) as Book II (Plumbing Systems), Divisions A to C of the National Plumbing Code of Canada 2010, as it was on June 1, 2012, with the changes set out in the attached Schedule 2.
Application of British Columbia Building Code
2 The British Columbia Building Code established by section 1 applies
(a) except insofar as B.C. Reg. 216/2006 applies under section 3, and
(b) except as provided by section 4.

Application of B.C. Reg. 216/2006
"building permit" means a building permit issued
(c) by a treaty first nation to which a building code established under section 692 of the Local Government Act applies,
(d) by the Nisga'a Lisims Government,
(e) by the board of governors of the University of British Columbia, or
(f) under the University Endowment Land Act;
"municipality" has the same meaning as in the Community Charter;
"Nisga'a Final Agreement" has the same meaning as in the Nisga'a Final Agreement Act;
"Nisga'a Lisims Government" has the same meaning as in the Nisga'a Final Agreement.
(2) B.C. Reg. 216/2006, the British Columbia Building Code Regulation, applies only to the construction or alteration of a building for which
(a) a building permit is applied for before the effective date of this order,
(b) the building permit applied for is issued and work commences and continues to completion without interruption, other than work stoppages considered reasonable in the building industry, and
(c) all work is carried out in conformity with B.C. Reg. 216/2006.
Manufactured or pre-assembled windows, doors and skylights installed before December 20, 2013
4 (1) In this section, "eligible", in relation to a window, door or skylight, means a manufactured or pre-assembled window, door or skylight that is installed before December 20, 2013.
(2) The following are exempt from Subsections 9.7.3. and 9.7.4. of Division B of Book I (General) of the British Columbia Building Code established by section 1:
(a) eligible windows that conform to Subsection 9.7.2. of Division B of the British Columbia Building Code established by B.C. Reg. 216/2006;
(b) eligible doors that conform to Article 9.6.5.1. of Division B of the British Columbia Building Code established by B.C. Reg. 216/2006;
(c) eligible skylights that conform to Subsection 9.7.7. of Division B of the British Columbia Building Code established by B.C. Reg. 216/2006.

Schedule 2 is exempt from publication. Schedule 2 sets out the changes to the National Plumbing Code of Canada 2010 as that Code is adopted for the purposes of establishing the British Columbia Building Code. Book II (Plumbing Systems) of the British Columbia Building Code has been further amended by B.C. Regulations 162/2013, 175/2014 and 209/2015.

4 (1) In this section, "eligible", in relation to a window, door or skylight, means a manufactured or pre-assembled window, door or skylight that is installed before July 2, 2013.
