Temporary licences

1  The registrar may issue a temporary licence to a person if

(a) the person has accepted an offer of full time employment from a licensed business,

(b) the registrar has received

(i)  an application for a temporary licence for that employee along with a fee of $35 for the temporary licence, and

(ii)  a fully completed application for a security licence for that employee along with the appropriate application fee for the security licence being applied for in that application, and

(c) no other temporary licence has been issued to that person by the registrar in the preceding 12 months.

 When applications and fees received

2  For the purposes of section 1, the applications and fees referred to in that section are received by the registrar when they are received

(a) at the registrar's office in Victoria, or

(b) at the office of a government agent.

 Issue of licence

3  (1)  A temporary licence is issued to an employee under this section,

(a) if the applications and fees referred to in section 1 are received under section 2 (a), when the registrar issues an authorization number to the employee, endorses that authorization number on a temporary licence permit and provides the endorsed permit to the employee, or

(b) if the applications and fees referred to in section 1 are received under section 2 (b), when the registrar issues an authorization number to the employee, provides that authorization number to the government agent and the government agent, in accordance with the authorization of the registrar, endorses the authorization number on a temporary licence permit and provides the endorsed permit to the employee.

(2)  The form of temporary licence permit must be in a form satisfactory to the registrar.

 Licence valid for 30 days

4  A temporary licence issued under section 3 remains in effect for a period of 30 days from the date of its issue unless that licence is earlier suspended or cancelled by the registrar.
