Community Charter

Size of Council Regulation

 Exception to size of council

1  (1)  This regulation applies to a municipality that has, on the day this regulation comes into force,

(a) a population of more than 50 000, and

(b) a council consisting of a mayor and less than 8 councillors.

(2)  As an exception to section 118 (4) of the Community Charter, a municipality described under subsection (1) may obtain the approval of the electors respecting retention of the size of its council by holding an alternative approval process.

 Repeal of regulation

2  This regulation is repealed effective April 30, 2005.
