Ministry of Social Services and Housing Act

[RSBC 1996] CHAPTER 310

 Ministry

1  There is to be a ministry of the public service of British Columbia called the Ministry of Social Services and Housing, over which the minister presides.

 Duties and powers of minister

2  The duties and powers of the minister extend to executing laws enacted by the Legislature and orders of the Lieutenant Governor in Council relating to the subjects enumerated in section 3, and to the direction of all public bodies, officers and servants employed in their execution.

 Responsibility of ministry

3  The ministry is responsible for

(a) all matters relating to social and public welfare and social assistance in British Columbia, and

(b) programs relating to the provision of housing in British Columbia.

 Staff

4  A deputy minister and other officers and employees required for the conduct of the ministry's business may be appointed under the Public Service Act.
