B.C. Reg. 274/2004, deposited June 18, 2004, pursuant to the BUSINESS PRACTICES AND CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT [Sections 212 and 238] and the CREMATION, INTERMENT ACT AND FUNERAL SERVICES ACT [Sections 75 and 100]. Order in Council 627/2004, approved and ordered June 17, 2004.
On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, orders that,
(a) effective July 4, 2004, the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act, S.B.C. 2004, c. 2, except
(i) Part 5,
(ii) the definitions of "telemarketer" and "tow truck driver" in section 142, and
(iii) sections 143 (d) and (e), 196, 207, 216 and 218 to 229,
is brought into force,
(b) effective July 4, 2004, the Cremation, Interment and Funeral Services Act, S.B.C. 2004, c. 35 is brought into force,
(c) effective July 4, 2004, the Acts and portions of Acts set out in Schedule 1 are repealed,
(d) effective July 4, 2004, the regulations set out in Schedule 2 are repealed,
(e) effective July 4, 2004, the regulations set out in Schedule 3 are amended as set out in that schedule,
(f) effective January 1, 2005, Part 5 and sections 196, 207, 216 and 218 to 229 of the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act are brought into force, and
(g) effective January 1, 2005, the Consumer Protection Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 69, the Cost of Consumer Credit Disclosure Act, S.B.C. 2000, c. 13, and the Consumer Protection Act Regulation, B.C. Reg. 62/87, are repealed.

Schedule 1
1 The following Acts are repealed:
(a) the Cemetery and Funeral Services Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 45;
(b) the Supplement to the Cemetery and Funeral Services Act;
(c) the Credit Reporting Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 81;
(d) the Supplement to the Credit Reporting Act;
(e) the Debt Collection Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 92;
(f) the Supplement to the Debt Collection Act;
(g) the Trade Practice Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 457;
(h) the Travel Agents Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 459;
(i) the Supplement to the Travel Agents Act.
2 Sections 7 to 21.6 and 53 to 62 of the Consumer Protection Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 69 are repealed.
3 The Supplement to the Consumer Protection Act is repealed.
Schedule 2
1 The following regulations are repealed:
(a) the Cemetery and Funeral Services General Regulation, B.C. Reg. 38/90;
(b) the Cemetery and Funeral Services Plans Regulation, B.C. Reg. 37/90;
(c) the Contract for Future Services Regulation, B.C. Reg. 386/87;
(d) the Credit Reporting Regulations, B.C. Reg. 564/74;
(e) the Debt Collection Regulation, B.C. Reg. 200/73;
(f) the Direct Sellers Regulation, B.C. Reg. 419/93;
(g) the Funeral Services Licensing and Business Practices Regulation, B.C. Reg. 235/95;
(h) the Non-Applicability Regulation, B.C. Reg. 247/77;
(i) the Trade Practice Regulation No. 1, B.C. Reg. 134/75;
(j) the Travel Agents Act Regulations, B.C. Reg. 525/77;
(k) the Travel Assurance Fund Regulation, B.C. Reg. 77/86;
(l) the Travel Club Regulation, B.C. Reg. 147/97.
Schedule 3
1 Section 4 (1) (j) of the Building Envelope Renovation Regulation, B.C. Reg. 240/2000, is amended by adding "the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act" after "the Consumer Protection Act,".
2 Sections 2, 3, 9, 10 and 12 (1) (a) and (2) and Schedules A and B of the Consumer Protection Act Regulation, B.C. Reg. 62/87, are repealed.
3 Section 4 (1) (k) of the Homeowner Protection Act Regulation, B.C. Reg. 29/99, is amended by striking out "Trade Practice Act or Consumer Protection Act," and substituting "Trade Practice Act, the Consumer Protection Act or the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act;".
4 Section 3 (7) of the Insurance Licensing Regulation, B.C. Reg. 329/90, is amended
(a) in paragraphs (a) and (b) by striking out "registered as a travel agent or travel wholesaler under the Travel Agents Act" and substituting "licensed as a travel agent or travel wholesaler under the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act", and
(b) in paragraph (c) by striking out "registered as a travel agent or of a travel wholesaler under the Travel Agents Act" and substituting "licensed as a travel agent or travel wholesaler under the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act".
5 Section 11 (b) is amended by striking out "registered travel agent or travel wholesaler under the Travel Agents Act," and substituting "licensed travel agent or travel wholesaler under the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act".
6 Section 17 (1) and (3) of the Land Title Act Regulation, B.C. Reg. 334/79, is amended by striking out "Cemetery and Funeral Services Act" in both places and substituting "Cremation, Interment and Funeral Services Act".
7 Form 6 of the Mortgage Brokers Act Regulations, B.C. Reg. 100/73, is amended by striking out "Part 5 of the Consumer Protection Act." and substituting "the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act."
8 Section 14 (m) of the Motor Dealer Act Regulation, B.C. Reg. 447/78, is amended by striking out "Debt Collection Act" and substituting "Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act".
9 Section 5 of the Motor Dealer Leasing Regulation, B.C. Reg. 391/94, is amended by striking out "Trade Practices Act" and substituting "Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act".
10 Section 7 (3) and (4) of the Unclaimed Property Regulation, B.C. Reg. 463/99, is amended by striking out "Cemetery and Funeral Services Act" in both places and substituting "Cremation, Interment and Funeral Services Act".
