1) This Part provides for the inspection, testing
and maintenance of the fire emergency systems installed
in high buildings as defined in Subsection 3.2.6. of the British Columbia Building
Code.
1) Except as provided in Sentence (2), fire emergency systems required to be installed in buildings in conformance with Subsection 3.2.6. of the British Columbia Building
Code shall be tested in conformance with Sections 7.2. and 7.3.
2) Any fire emergency system required by
Subsection 3.2.6. of the British Columbia Building Code
that does not conform to a specific measure outlined in
Commentary C of the User's Guide — BCBC 1995 Fire
Protection, Occupant Safety and Accessibility (Part 3)
shall be tested to ensure that it operates as
intended.
3) Deficiencies noted during the testing described in
Sentences (1) and (2) shall be corrected.
1) A written record shall be kept of all tests and
corrective measures required by Article 7.1.1.2., and such record shall be retained for examination by the authority having jurisdiction, in conformance with Article 2.2.1.2. of Division C.
1) In addition to the requirements of Part 6, components of fire emergency systems shall be maintained in conformance with
Sentences (2) to (5).
2) The keys required to recall elevators and to
permit independent operation of each elevator shall be
kept in the locations required by Subsection 3.2.6. of
the British Columbia Building Code.
3) Access to windows and panels required to vent floor areas and vents to vestibules permitted to be manually openable shall be kept free of
obstruction.
4) Windows and panels provided for venting floor areas shall be maintained so as to be openable without the use of keys.
5) Vents to vestibules permitted to be manually openable
shall be maintained in an operable condition.
